HOW ARNE JACOBSEN FELL IN LOVE WITH THE DOT™

Written by 18 November 2009

It was in the beginning of the 1950′s and alongside Arne Jacobsen’s process of creating the Ant™, that another little treasure, the Dot™ was developed by Fritz Hansen. During this period Arne Jacobsen spent a lot of time at the factory testing, refining and finalizing the chair.  Whilst doing this, he fell in love with the little Dot™ – so much that he made it part of his work and used it for one of his important projects at the time. Not only did he use it for the functional little stool it became, but he also decorated the walls in the Townhall of Rødovre, a small town outside of Copenhagen, with it’s seat.

oUR CEO AT THE TIME WAS SØREN HANSEN AND ALSO THE CREATOR OF THE DOT, MAYBE THAT IS WHO YOU ARE REFERING TO? ARNE JACOBSEN ADOPTED IT AS HIS OWN PRODUCT BECAUSE HE LIKED IT SO MUCH – THIS IS HOW IT HAS BECOME A FRITZ HANSEN & ARNE JACOBSEN PRODUCT
